（1642-1649）》（Cavaliers and Roundheads: The English Civil War, 1642-1649）写得非常棒。更有深度、而且我觉得很多 HN 读者会感兴趣的，是克里斯托弗·希尔（Christopher Hill）的《世界翻转过来了：英国革命期间的激进思想》（The World Turned Upside Down: Radical Ideas During the English Revolution）。
…book-- but I think that Christopher Hibbert's Cavaliers and Roundheads: The English Civil War, 1642-1649 does a really good job. More in depth but I think interesting to a lot of HN readers would be The World Turned Upside Down: Radical Ideas During the English Revolution by Christopher Hill. If you have the time, I think that Veronica Wedgwood's (she published as CV Wedgwood) history of the era is pretty great. The writing…
By far, my favorite book on this era, The World Turned Upside Down, by Christopher Hill: https://www.amazon.com/World-Turned-Upside-Down/dp/014199313... As the book summary says: "Within the English revolution of the mid-seventeenth century which resulted in the triumph…
…established by the founders of the Annales school. But this enormously influential group of historians were a constant source of inspiration to Christopher Hill, and I think shaped the way he wrote The World Turned Upside Down. I recommend both Hill and Braudel, both pillars of my intellectual life.
I recently read "The World Turned Upside Down" and I was surprised by the parallels: https://www.amazon.com/World-Turned-Upside-Down-Revolution/d... During the English revolt, the censorship of the press was suspended, and people could publish…
