4/5 分；Jack Weatherford 的《Genghis Khan and the Quest for God》——同样很不错，3.5/5 分；Frances Hodgson Burnett 的《秘密花园》（The Secret Garden）——迷人又愉悦的故事，4/5 分；Anna Sewell 的《黑美人》（Black Beauty）——我很确定这是我读过的第一本以动物第一人称视角（POV）写的书，很喜欢，4/5 分；《The Prose……
…and I enjoyed this book. Don't know if it's just me, but Weatherford does seem to handwave Mongol atrocities. 4/5 Genghis Khan and the Quest for God by Jack Weatherford - Again, enjoyable. 3.5/5 The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett - Charming and enjoyable story. 4/5 Black Beauty by Anna Sewell - Pretty sure this is the first book I ever read that's written from an animal's POV. I liked it. 4/5 The Prose…
……Dick King Smith，Alexander McCall-Smith 有几部非常棒、温和平实又有趣的儿童小说（比如《The Perfect Hamburger》），《雪中珍宝》（Treasures of the Snow）、《帕丁顿熊》（Paddington）、E. Nesbit、《卡迪与公主》（The Princess and Curdie）等等，《秘密花园》（The Secret Garden）、《Dogger》、《平的故事》（The Story of Ping，读完之后一定要去看亚马逊上的书评）、《政治正确的床头故事》（Politically Correct BedTime Stories）……
…Dick King Smith, Alexander McCall-Smith has a few great calm fun fiction for kids (The Perfect Hamburger, for instance), Treasures of the Snow, Paddington, E.Nesbit, the Princess and Curdie et al, The Secret Garden, Dogger, the Story of Ping (AFTER you read it, check the amazon reviews), Politically Correct BedTime Stories ... My wife and I are now reading (for the second time) through David Eddings' 'The Belgariad'…
……《内裤队长》（Captain Underpants），罗尔德·达尔的书：《好心眼儿巨人》（The BFG）、《飞天巨桃历险记》（James and the Giant Peach）、《玛蒂尔达》（Matilda）、《蠢蛋搞怪秀》（The Twits）、《查理与巧克力工厂》/《女巫玻璃升降机》（不如前一本），《山居岁月》（My Side of the Mountain），《狗命不要再没了》（No More Dead Dogs），《秘密花园》（The Secret Garden），《通往特雷比西亚的桥》（Bridge to Terabithia，涉及死亡主题，适合大一点的孩子），《狮子、女巫和魔衣橱》（The Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe），《漫长的四月》（Across five Aprils，内战历史小说，适合大一点的孩子），《断刃》（The Broken Blade / Voyageur）及续作《Island……

I'd think Tolkein's "The Hobbit" would fit this description? Or CS Lewis Narnia series, one-offs like "The Secret Garden", Also Edith Nesbit, fantastic children's author, "The Railway children" probably her most famous. century old at least.
我发现《秘密花园》（The Secret Garden）和《红花侠》（The Scarlet Pimpernel）也是这种情况。
…school, but it's been a long time. In my mind, the "canon" version is now Man of La Mancha which, as the article notes, "could not be more distant" from the original. I find the same has happened with The Secret Garden and The Scarlet Pimpernel. I'm not immediately convinced that Don Quixote is a more effective manual for living than other classic works of literature, but it's interesting enough to make me consider…
