[1] https://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?40835
Can also recommend the Ted Chiang story Understand [1], which adds in a dash of The Most Dangerous Game. [1] https://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?40835
I read a lot of good ones in school: * Hills like White Elephants by Hemingway * A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Connor * Harrison Bergeron by Vonnegut * Most Dangerous Game
Richard Connell wrote the short story "The Most Dangerous Game" on this topic. That was 100 years ago and now it's real.
…"unrealistic". When I was in high school, we used to read these miserable, loathful stories about people having affairs (The Awakening), or committing suicide (Ethan Frome), or murdering each other for fun (The Most Dangerous Game), or a variety of other unpleasant topics, and I would get sick of these books and ask the instructor why we couldn't read a happy book once in a while. "That's not how real life works," she quipped.…
…than animals since they were more intelligent. Similar sentiments were communicated during the three-part cipher mailed to newspapers. Allen also mentioned to the police that his favourite book was The Most Dangerous Game, a book about killing humans and possibly alluded to in a Zodiac correspondence. >In 1991, the search warrant for Allen's house found bomb diagrams and the same ingredients for bombs that were mentioned…
