If you want something a little different, "The Truth" and "Going Postal" by Terry Pratchett both capture a sense of startupness.
In a classic case of the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, I recently read "The Truth" by Terry Pratchett, which repeatedly makes reference to that phrase, and I am now noticing it everywhere, whereas previously I can't recall being aware of it at all.

Your post reminds me of "The Truth" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Truth_(novel)) by Terry Pratchett, in which the characters invent newspapers and deal with these issues. Hilarity ensues.
—— Terry Pratchett，《The Truth》
…together is the aim of despotism and tyranny. Free men pull in all kinds of directions." He smiled. "It's the only way to make progress. That and, of course, moving with the times. Good day to you." -- "The Truth", by Terry Pratchett
…that a man bites a dog, because the world is not supposed to happen like that. In short, what people think they want is news, but what they really crave is olds - Lord Vetinari (Terry Pratchett - The Truth).
