…anyway, and then they were pretty much gone entirely at that point. = December = Alone Together - Sherry Turtle 4 The negatives of tech, robotics and the internet. Interesting and important read. Imperium - Robert Harris 5 First in the semi-fictional trilogy accounting the fall of the Roman Republic, told through the eyes of Cicero’s secretary, Tiro. Really good. The politics, the corruption, the ancient…
Bit of a tangent but if this period interests you, Robert Harris has a trilogy of excellent and entertaining novels starting with Imperium that trace the rise and fall of Cicero's life, a peer of Crassus and Caesar. Highly recommended!
1. 《Imperium》/《Conspirata》/《Dictator》[西塞罗三部曲] - Robert Harris（极好）2. 《The Fear Index》- Robert Harris（不错）3. 《1776》- David McCullough（不错）4. 《Sharpe's Eagle》- Bernard Cornwell（不错）5. 《Star Wars:……

Reading the classics often make me feel we achieved very little improving our base instincts in the last 2000 years. Robert Harris has a number of pretty cool historical fiction books about Cicero (Imperium, Pompeii, Conspirata) that are a good read also and put much of the goneby times in context.
Also consider Robert Harris' historical fiction trilogy "Imperium," "Lustrum," and "Dictator" about the life of Cicero and the fall of the Roman Republic under Julius Caesar (assuming it's okay to recommend additions). The ideas explored in these books are fascinating…
I found the Cicero Trilogy (Imperium, Lustrum, Dictator) by Robert Harris very enjoyable. They are novels, not 'history books', but well researched and told.
