I've read a lot of Azimov, including the Foundation series, and nearly all books by the Strugatsky brothers. And I too loved Harry Harrisons's Deathworld when I was a schoolboy :) Reading Chekhov makes me genuinely sad, maybe I take the lives of his heroes too close to heart. I am not sure about top 3, but if I had to reread something I've read before,…
Harry Harrison 的《Deathworld》。 A. E. van Vogt 的《SLAN》。……
Lest Darkness Fall by L. Sprague de Camp which appears to recently have received a reprinting, my copy is from the 40s. Deathworld by Harry Harrison. I've been waiting for some screenplay writer to stumble across this one, and if I had to guess James Cameron probably did, but just didn't tell anyone. SLAN by A. E. van Vogt. The…
Aside: Deathworld (Harry Harrison) is a classic scifi trilogy from the '60s. It was kind of a "macho adventure fantasy", like James Bond in a scifi setting. Same author had a similar character style with his Stainless…
This situation always makes me think of the scifi books 'Deathworld' by Harry Harrison. Whatever the solution, or at least, path forward, is, it is never 'more aggression', especially from a position of power.
……《众神自己：超越一切/文明人的八宗罪》（Lords:Beyond it all/Civilized Man's Eight Deadly Sins）严重偏向“大家都在读它！”最后再试一次，明确偏向“60 年代科幻”——《小号的声音》（Small, still voice of trumpets）、《明日之子》（The Tomorrow People）、《死亡世界》（Deathworld）。然后我得到的是《银河系漫游指南》（Hitchhiker's Guide）、《世界大战》（War of the World's）、《彩虹尽头》（Rainbows End）。
…Lords:Beyond it all/Civilized Man's Eight Deadly Sins) is severely tilted to "everybody is reading it!" A last try with a decided "60's Scifi" slant - Small, still voice of trumpets/The Tomorrow People/Deathworld. And I get Hitchhiker's Guide, War of the World's, Rainbows End. I don't look for book recommendations to learn what everybody is reading, those books are inescapable anyways. I'm looking for thematically…

"Deathworld 2" by Harry Harrison has a plot along those lines. Apparently the original name was "The Ethical Engineer".
