Thaler 和 Sunstein 提出了 libertarian paternalism，作为介于 command-and-control 与 strict-neutrality choice architectures 之间的一条中间道路。Libertarian paternalism 巧妙利用人类的既有习惯，nudge（助推）人们做出更好的选择，从而保护人们免受自身有害心理特质（如 inertia、bounded rationality、undue influence）的影响。

当年奥巴马任命卡斯·桑斯坦的时候，我对他的那一套理念就挺不感冒的。你能展开讲讲吗？我读《助推》（Nudge）的时候印象还挺深。这种务实思维到底有没有带到OIRA去？还是说这本身就是问题的一部分？
I wasn't thrilled with say Cass Sunstein's ideas when he was appointed by Obama. Would you expand on this? I was quite impressed with what I read in Nudge. Did any of this practical thinking carry over to OIRA? Or was that perhaps part of the problem?

Nudge is pretty easy reading from Thaler and Sunstein. Personally tough, I preferred his Misbehaving which goes into his history with the field. Way back when, I had a couple courses with Thaler when he was…
