…N defaults to 250 but can be set on the command line. At the default 250 msec per word I found it very easy to read the material I tested with (random extracts from a Project Gutenberg edition of"The Valley of Fear", by Arthur Conan Doyle). That works out to around 160-180 wpm. (Not the 240 wpm you would expect from 250 msec/word because of the delays for punctuation). At 200 msec/word, it still feels like a very…
Hmm... "The Valley of Fear" Sherlock Holmes Novel by Sir Conan Arthur Doyle comes to mind ...
…which is what every scientist should do; true genius is too scarce and random and so one must be able to recognize it and fan the flames into roaring discoveries. As Conan Doyle says in the novel, The Valley of Fear; “Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself; but talent instantly recognizes genius.”.
The Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle featured a fictionalised version of a Pinkerton agent.
Yeah, I feel the same way you do, but then console myself with this quote - “Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself; but Talent instantly recognizes Genius.” (from The Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle). People have a silly need to point out the obvious as a crutch to their ego.
