首次出版于1814年的《Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours》是一本按分类法系统编排的自然界色彩指南。该书由德国地质学家亚伯拉罕·戈特洛布·韦尔纳（Abraham Gottlob Werner）编纂，1821年由帕特里克·赛姆（Patrick Syme）进行了扩充和改良，增加了色样和进一步的色彩描述，使分类的色调总数达到110种。由此诞生的这本参考书不仅对艺术家和设计师弥足珍贵，也对动物学家、植物学家、矿物学家、解剖学家以及探险家具有重要价值，查尔斯·达尔文（Charles Darwin）在著名的Beagle号航行中就曾使用过它。

I love stuff like this. The article mentions Werner’s Nomenclature of Colour which is a marvel.
