The Red Badge of Courage是美国作家Stephen Crane(1871–1900)创作的战争小说。

我最近能想到的有《幽灵舰队》(Ghost Fleet)、《星船伞兵》(Starship Troopers)、《安德的游戏》(Ender's Game)、《红色英勇勋章》(Red Badge of Courage)、《孤儿领袖之子》(The Orphan Master's Son)以及《追风筝的人》(The Kite Runner)。
Yup, official military reading lists include a fair bit of fiction. Recent ones that I can think of are Ghost Fleet, Starship Troopers, Enders Game, Red Badge of Courage, The Orphan Master's Son, The Kite Runner. The really nice thing is that since many of those lists are refreshed yearly, they are an ongoing fountain of interesting books. Good stuff!
我还想推荐几本儿童读物:《二十四娇娃》(Cheaper by the Dozen)、《不莱梅的音乐家》(The Musicians of Brennan)、《莫里斯的隐形包》(Morris' Disappearing Bag)和《红色英勇勋章》。
I would also suggest the childrens books Cheaper by the Dozen, The Musicians of Brennan, Morris' Disappearing Bag and The Red Badge of Courage. I'd maybe throw in some of the little house on the prairie books as well, especially the one where they all almost froze to death. I think being able to appreciate books as an adult is pretty contingent…
…the US we had heroes fighting japs and nazis, then commies (notably no one ever fought the confederates in pop culture...). In modern mass media I can't contradict that, but Stephen Crane's book The Red Badge of Courage was very well received. I believe it is often ranked among the best American novels.
…point of it, really. It took me a decade after high school to read a fiction book again, and this is far from uncommon among those who suffered through it alongside me. I don't remember a thing about Red Badge of Courage except I had to extract meaning from why the grass in this particular scene was green - to symbolize new life, hope, rebirth, etc.
I read an average amount as a child and frankly I found books such as "The Count of Monte Cristo", "The Red Badge of Courage", "Great Expectations", etc to be absolutely mind-numbingly boring and would have to force myself to finish them. As a young adult I actually picked up some books I found interesting (i.e. nonfiction)…
…has gotten out to the public at large. It's still a hot button issue for me, at least. When I was in 7th grade, my English teacher had us read Macbeth, Northwest Passage, The Last of the Mohicans, The Red Badge of Courage, and other notable works. We discussed them in detail and wrote essays ad nauseum. It was hard, but we were the better for it. Last year, in my son's Literature class (note; it's not English anymore…
