…get to sleep (/s). Lovecratian horror is not what most people think of when they think of horror. It is more existential. Sebastian Orr does a great narration: http://www.ourfaircity.com/2011/12/the-rats-in-the-walls-pt-... http://www.ourfaircity.com/2012/01/part-two/ Inspired by Lovecraft, A Colder War by Charlie Stross is also a favorite.
我记得是在《读者文摘》的选集《Great Short Tales of Mystery and Terror》里读到这个的。书里其他的经典还有《The Rats in the Walls》、《The Hands of Mr Ottermole》、《An Invitation to the Hunt》、《The Damned Thing》、《The Wendigo》等等很多。
I remember reading this in the Reader's Digest anthology Great Short Tales of Mystery and Terror. Other classics in the book were The Rats in the Walls, The Hands of Mr Ottermole, An Invitation to the Hunt, The Damned Thing, and The Wendigo, among many others.

Really interesting! Somewhat reminds me of the ending of H. P. Lovecraft's "The Rats in the Walls", where the main character, a scion of a very old family which has done some really bad things, goes mad and progressively starts speaking in older and older versions of English after every sentence.
另外,我觉得你说的 adjectivitis(形容词泛滥综合征)简直一针见血,正好解释了我为什么不喜欢……
Yeah, I saw the word "nigger" show up in the diagram, so I went and had a look. In "The Rats in the Walls" the author has a cat called "Nigger-man", but that was a proper name so I removed it (I removed all proper names). Also, I think you're spot on with adjectivitis. It explains exactly what I don't like…
