http://www.amazon.com/Kon-Tiki-Across-Pacific-Thor-Heyerdahl... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_heavy_water_sabotage
If you haven't read the book by Thor Heyerdahl you should. It's an amazing and well told adventure that can only command serious respect. http://www.amazon.com/Kon-Tiki-Across-Pacific-Thor-Heyerdahl... Here's a link to the heavy water sabotage in Norway during the second world war that Hauglund was a part of. Amazing stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_heavy_water_sabotage
Thor Heyerdahl, author of that piece, is well known for his diffusion hypothesis. His work with Ra and Kon-Tiki shows that migration was possible with even early technology. It doesn't mean it happened, or that the hypothesis has any truth to it. (FWIW, I enjoyed his books about the two journeys, and his book on…
Kon-Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl, a explorer/anthropologist. He and a group of other volunteers sailed across the pacific on a raft built using ancient methods to prove that the pacific isles were settled by south americans…

Kon-Tiki was interesting, but I can't handle the implication of Heyerdahl's beliefs - that the Polynesian people, supreme sailors and navigators who travelled huge distances across the open ocean while Europeans…
I have not read much of Heyerdahl's work, but I did read Kon-Tiki several times. The article may be right to dismiss Heyerdahl as wrong, but its depiction of his approach is not in line with what he wrote himself in Kon-Tiki. The article says: > He made his bias…
