我最近读了一些老派科幻“经典”，全都强烈推荐：* 弗诺·文奇的《深渊上的火》（A Fire Upon the Deep）* 弗诺·文奇的《天渊》（A Deepness in the Sky）* 丹·西蒙斯的《海伯利安》（Hyperion）* 丹·西蒙斯的《海伯利安的陨落》（The Fall of Hyperion）* 丹·西蒙斯的《安迪密恩》（Endymion）* 丹·西蒙斯的《安迪密恩的崛起》（The Rise of Endymion）* 特德·姜的《呼吸》（Exhalation）
I've recently read some old sci-fi "classics" and can recommend them all highly: * A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge * A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge * Hyperion by Dan Simmons * The Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons * Endymion by Dan Simmons * The Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons * Exhalation by Ted Chiang
Ahhh, I've only ever read one SF series that left me with the same sense of wonder as the Lord of the Rings. You just have to try Hyperion/Fall of Hyperion, by Dan Simmons. At first I thought it was ridiculous space opera, with loads of jargon and technical impossibilities that just made it read like 3rd-rate SF. That is right up until the point where…
I had a fantastic reading year, too much to choose from: "Cosmos" - Carl Sagan "Hyperion" + "Fall of Hyperion" - Dan Simmons "Red Mars" - Kim Stanley Robinson "The Prince" - Niccolo Machiavelli
Dan Simmons Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion are two of the best novels I've read. I read a lot of scifi, and I think they have held up very well compared to some other works that came out in the 80s through the early 90s. They present a lot of…
…probably 4 re-reads. My most re-read book is probably Hyperion, by Dan Simmons (followed by HHGG). It's not for every sci-fi lover, but the first part of the Hyperion Chantos (that would be Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion) are incredibly good books, not only for the science fiction, but also have a thick, interesting plot full of the "I wonder how this turns out" sci-fi.
