https://www.amazon.com/Professional-C-Marc-Gregoire/dp/11188...
I am not an experienced C+++ programmer. That being said, I found Marc Gregoire's book to be pretty good. https://www.amazon.com/Professional-C-Marc-Gregoire/dp/11188... The 3rd edition covers c++14. New version coming out in April covers C++17.
…describe it in one sentence I'd go for "use smart pointers and containers instead of raw pointers and raw arrays" or "c++ is more than c with classes". If you are completely new to C++ I would recommend "Professional C++" 4th or 5th edition by Marc Gregoire. After that read everything by Scott Meyers and Bjarne Stroustrup you can get (released after 2011). 2. You could use Bazel. Also look into CMake, it's an industry…
Cheers for the link! It's `Professional C++ (2nd Ed.)' by Marc Gregoire, et al. It covers C++11 :) I'm only a little way through it (it's quite a tome!), but it's written well, and covers a lot of questions that I had/have. Well worth checking…
I've been learning C++ for the first time starting in 2019. I used Marc Gregoire's Professional C++ which has a version that was published last year and includes C++17, alongside Scott Meyer's line of books, and watching a variety of YouTube videos (e.g. Jason Turner, CPP talks...)
…side projects I want to work on and C++ would be a fine choice for most of them so perhaps I will sit down sometime and get myself acquainted with the newer standards. Side note: I was gifted a copy of Professional C++ by Gregoire a few months ago so if anyone reading this has read the 4th edition it would be nice to know if this is a good book to get myself up to speed again or if I should look elsewhere :)

If you want a thorough reference of C++20 and enjoy 1000 page textbooks (I do), then I can recommend 'Professional C++' by Marc Gregoire.
