I read his Holidays in Hell when it first came out and it had me convulsed with laughter. International travel was still fresh to me and he seemed to do a perfect job of highlighting the oddities of some cultures I had experienced.…

I'd start with Parliament of Whores or Holidays in Hell. It's not as well known, but Modern Manners is a real howler with more laughs per page than just about any book I can think of, and is the perfect night table book because you can read short snippets…
