US coder gets sent to the middle east for a bunch of money Reminds me of Ken Follett's 'On Wings of Eagles' - definitely a recommendation if you're into thrillers! It's about a team of coders from EDS (now part of HP I think) who get sent to Iran to work for the government and are then refused to leave the…
I don't feel like looking up the style guide right now for the right way to link this, etc... but I'm going to suggest a book: _On Wings of Eagles_ by Ken Follet. You'll have to read it to understand why.
If you are looking for a contrast with a typical tech bro modern day CEO leadership I highly recommend the book "On wings of Eagles." It describes Ross Perots efforts to gather a mix of staff and hired guns to go into Iran and break some of his staff out of prison during the Iranian Revolution. They actually succeeded. Partly crazy,…
None of what I've read today on his passing have mentioned this interesting story of the rescue of his employees from Iran during the revolution: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Wings_of_Eagles A mini-series was produced about it starring Burt Lancaster
