去看看刘易斯·芒福德(Lewis Mumford)的《The Myth of the Machine》,特别是第二卷《The Pentagon of Power》,深入探讨了现代“巨型机器”(megamachine)的概念
Check out The Myth of the Machine by Lewis Mumford, specifically the second volume The Pentagon of Power, which gets into the idea of the modern "megamachine"
对于 Lewis Mumford [0],或许包含“大技术”(megatechnics)概念的《The Myth of the Machine》比起他早期的《Technics and Civilisation》更好读,但他早期的真知灼见似乎显得越来越有现实意义。至于 Neil Postman [1],标准的入门读物是《Technopoly》……
For Lewis Mumford [0] maybe "Myth of the Machine" - with his concept of "megatechnics" - is more readable than the earlier "Technics and Civilisation", but his earlier insights seem ever more relevant. For Neil Postman [1] the standard reader is "Technopoly",…
This article doesn't actually seem to explore too much the deep origins and cultural impact of this mode of modeling. Lewis Mumford for instance in The Myth of the Machine all the way in 1970 wrote much better about the limitations of this way of thinking, that didn't do the heavy philosophizing of Baudrillard. The fact that models are necessary constructs, but are merely…
……积极的转变,那么对我来说是 Aldous Huxley 的《Heaven and Hell》(收录了《Doors of Perceptions》)、Erich Fromm 的《To Have or to Be》、Lewis Mumford 的《Technics and Civilization》以及他的《The Myth of the Machine》。每个人情况不同,但对我来说,这些书都称得上“激进”,彻底颠覆了我年轻时作为科学家/工程师所持有的纯理性、工具化以及我认为非常狭隘的知识、技术和“进步”观。
…positive transformation, then for me Aldous Huxley's "Heaven and Hell" (which contains "Doors of Perceptions"), Erich Fromm's "To Have or to Be", Lewis Mumford's "Technics and Civilization" and his "The Myth of the Machine". YMMV, but for me all of these were "radical" in challenging my purely rational, instrumental, and I think very limited ideas of knowledge, technology and "progress" that I held as a younger scientist/engineer.
