It’s been well known that they were broken and unauditable going back to the Black Box Voting days of 2004 when everyone thought Bev Harris was some kind of paranoid nut job.

…claimed pretty every election for the last 20 years has been stolen, or at least could have been stolen, due to dominion's voting machines having the ability to flip votes undetected. Bev Harris's book Black Box Voting literally came out in 2003.[1] Now apparently not only was this election the first not to have been stolen, but it's not even a possibility that something like that could happen.
