Great book, I have a first edition. There is a fairly direct successor I also have called The Algorithmic Beauty of Sea Shells by Hans Meinhardt (Springer-Verlog 1995) which is also full of L-system goodness. Przemysław Prusinkiewicz is also a contributor to that volume, although not being botany it doesn’t show up in the list…
- 《贝壳的算法之美》(The Algorithmic Beauty of Sea Shells)——这本也特别棒。 - 《海藻的算法之美》(The Algorithmic Beauty of Seaweeds)……
…presented, the prose and illustrations are wonderful. This one is a must have - a beautiful example of what can be accomplished when mixing math, natural sciences, computation, art, and design. - The Algorithmic Beauty of Sea Shells - this one is very good too. If you've wondered how sea shells can have almost perfect checkerboard patterns and so on, this is the book for you. Highly recommended. - The Algorithmic Beauty of Seaweeds,…
还有一本《海藻、海绵与珊瑚的算法之美》(The Algorithmic Beauty of Seaweeds, Sponges and Corals)(https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-662-04339-4),以及我个人在这个系列中最喜欢的《贝壳的算法之美》(The Algorithmic Beauty of Sea shells)(https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-540-92142-4)。
There is also "The Algorithmic Beauty of Seaweeds, Sponges and Corals" (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-662-04339-4), and, my personal favorite in the series, "The Algorithmic Beauty of Sea shells" (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-540-92142-4). I really enjoyed reading the latter last year, because it does a great job slowly building up. By the end, I felt like I didn't just understand…
我书架上就有这本,就放在《贝壳的算法之美》(The Algorithmic Beauty of Sea Shells)和《分形图像的科学》(The Science of Fractal Images)旁边。
I've got this on my bookshelf right next to "The Algorithmic Beauty of Sea Shells" and "The Science Fractal Images". Hope more old books like this get digital releases for free/modest cost.
