……不负众望，而且看起来很契合楼主的要求。他的《数学的本质》（Nature of Numbers）正是如此，这也是第一本我不用查字典就能读完的英文书（对我来说是外语）。读《伟大的数学问题》是读完一章、休息一下、然后再读下一章；而《数学的本质》一口气就能读完，我的感受就是希望这书能再厚上好几倍。书里的插图……

His "Nature of Numbers" is exactly that, also this is the first English book (foreign language for me) which I have read without any need of dictionary. "The Great Mathematical Problems" is about reading a chapter, then taking a rest, then reading another. "Nature of Numbers" can be read in one attempt and my emotion about that is I want this book to be several times thicker. The illustrations…
