它的神话与故事——从 Romulus 和 Remus 到 The Rape of Lucretia——仍能引发我们的共鸣。

I love Mary Beard and highly recommend her SPQR, which is a Roman history more or less with the midpoint as the fall of the Republic and transition to Empire... a very apt piece of history in the current political climate. I would be happy to hear…
I wasn't aware there was a cult of Mary Beard: perhaps you have to be in Great Britain to be aware of it. The author certainly seems to be a paid-up member. I did recently read and enjoy SPQR.
[1]https://www.amazon.com/SPQR-History-Ancient-Mary-Beard/dp/16...
I'd also recommend Mary Beard's book SPQR [1]. [1]https://www.amazon.com/SPQR-History-Ancient-Mary-Beard/dp/16...
…HN for the Roman Kingdom, Republic and Empire. For a very interesting history of Rome, from the 2 foundation myths (Romulus vs Aeneas) until the end of the "Pax Romana", I strongly suggest the book "SPQR", by Mary Beard. She is a very respected scholar on Ancient Rome and she has a lot of documentaries on Youtube. I just started the famous "Decline and fall of the Roman Empire", by Edward Gibbons, covering…
The author, Mary Beard, is a classicist and the UK's top Roman scholar. She's also the author of the critically acclaimed SPQR: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/18/books/review-in-spqr-a-hi...
- 史蒂文·温伯格的《To Explain The World》。
Some good ones I read this year: - _SPQR_, by Mary Beard. Engaging book surveying the history of ancient Rome, mostly Republic and early Empire if I recall correctly. - _To Explain The World_, by Steven Weinberg. History of physics from the…
