Reminded me of the second half of Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household. [1] Also, The Machine Gunners by Robert Westall. [2] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_Male_(novel) [2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Machine_Gunners
Thank you - I was thinking about The Machine Gunners when I read this, but couldn't remember the name of the book - some strong childhood memories associated with that story.
让我想起了 Geoffrey Household 写的《Rogue Male》的后半部分。[1] 还有 Robert Westall 的《The Machine Gunners》。[2] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_Male_(novel) [2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Machine_Gunners

太感谢了——我读这篇的时候脑子里一直在想《The Machine Gunners》，就是死活想不起书名——那本故事勾起了我很多强烈的童年回忆。
