…and Amazon, and even Yahoo is still around (which acquired Viaweb). Do you honestly think Twitter is worth $8 billion dollars without a business model? Please, read this book: http://www.amazon.com/Exit-Strategy-Douglas-Rushkoff/dp/1887...
I highly recommend the book "Exit Strategy" by Douglas Rushkoff. Although it is fiction, it is an entertaining read of the attitude you describe during the dot.com boom. I remember reading it a chapter at a time, as it was released, I think…
http://www.amazon.com/Exit-Strategy-Douglas-Rushkoff/dp/1887...
Reads like a bad version of Douglas Rushkoff's Exit Strategy. http://www.amazon.com/Exit-Strategy-Douglas-Rushkoff/dp/1887...
…correct in assuming this is only a US problem? I am curious what the landscape will look like in the next decade, as "data" prices increase, while local storage continues to plummet. It reminds me of "Exit Strategy" by Douglas Rushkoff, where it discusses vertical brand integration.
Comcast is late to the party as a "mobile content provider". To "compete" in the US now, these companies must provide both content and mobile connectivity. Reminds me of Douglas Rushkoff's "Exit Strategy" (vertical brand alliances), or some weird v2 of Prodigy, Compuserve, AOL. Telecom offerings in the US is a sad state of affairs.
