…Helped me out during the process of buying a house by understanding various negotiation gambits. Would recommend. Scrum - Another book that changed the way I work. Would absolutely recommend it. The Wizard of Oz - Much better than the movie. The 4-Hour Workweek - .... It was "okay". I don't know. I'm still torn. The Swiss Family Robinson - Awesome book, full of fun things to talk about with your kids. The…
There are also great children's authors in English - A.A. Milne, Oscar Wilde's stories, Mark Twain, Kipling, Baum (Wizard of Oz). All of these could be accessible at various stages within grades 2-5.
I found this interesting book on Project Gutenberg, by L. Frank Baum of "The Wizard of Oz" fame, about a girl and her brother doing an aircraft startup around 1911: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flying_Girl I didn't realize they used the term "angel investor" even back then! Read and…
…times each. As a kid, I really enjoyed the rhyming, the zany drawings and some of the fantastic creatures like the wump (a 7+ hump camel) and the yink (that likes to wink and drink pink ink). I read The Wizard of Oz at least 5 times and the whole 12 books series three times. I read several Choose your own adventure books dozens of times (I particularly liked, Journey to the Year 3000), and the full set of Death Gate…
Interesting read. Barnum was quite a character, and might even be seen as a prototype of L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz: "'Barnum was right when he declared that the American people love to be deceived,' Baum once wrote of one of his heroes. Strikingly, even after the Wizard reveals his con, the Lion, the Tin Man, and…
