…gives you a new toy. I wouldn't say it was worth it. But that depends on what your goals are. Ruby is a nice language though. I do all my non-web stuff in that. 我是按这个顺序刷了三本书：先读《Agile Web Development with Rails》（初学 rails 基础），接着是 Peter Cooper 写的《Beginning Ruby》（学习 ruby 语言），最后是《Rails Recipes》（用来做正经实用的功能）。看这几本书的同时，我也动手把一个已有的 web app 迁移改造成了 rails 版。
I used three books in this order Agile web development with Rails (for learning rails initially) Beginning Ruby by Peter Cooper (for learning ruby) Rails Recipes (for doing useful stuff) While reading these I also worked on converting an existing web app into rails.
1) Peter Cooper 的《Beginning Ruby》是学 Ruby 的一本好书，十字镐书（Pickaxe book）也是非常棒的 Ruby 参考手册。《Agile Web Development with Rails》很不错，另外针对 Rails 2.0 来说《The Rails Way》也很好。
1) Beginning Ruby by Peter Cooper is a good one for learning Ruby, the Pickaxe book is a great reference for Ruby as well. Agile Web development with Rails is good, also the Rails Way is good for Rails 2.0.
