- 我小时候最喜欢的几部:《手推车战争》(The Pushcart War)、《费里斯比夫人和尼姆的老鼠》(Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH)、《时间的皱褶》(A Wrinkle in Time)、《神奇飞天车》(The Phantom Tollbooth)、《纳尼亚传奇》(友情提示:基督教隐喻极重)……
…are tons of options depending on what sort of stories you like. A few ideas and favorites: - The Goosebumps series is popular. - There are a lot of middle grade mystery series like the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew - A few of my personal favorites from childhood: The Pushcart War; Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH; A Wrinkle in Time; The Phantom Tollbooth; the Chronicles of Narnia (warning: heavy Christian symbolism);…
Growing up I read a lot of the Nancy Drew books that my sister would borrow from the library and her friends. I got hooked on reading because of these books. Short and fast paced, I generally liked them better than the Hardy Boys. Being a guy…
…and value forever. Also get her DVDs of some of the movies from American Girl. They may also have some retail stores it would be better for her to visit than that fake comic book store. For books, maybe Nancy Drew? Or something similar but more recent? Since she's seven, a girl, and bright, it may be that she could get good at French with blinding speed -- try to find a way. Talk to some people who know about…
My oldest daughter could read at age four. By second grade, in a Texas public school, she liked to read Nancy Drew mysteries on her own. One day she came home from school crying and told us she didn't want to go back -- she said she had got in trouble for reading her book. Her mom and I went to talk to the teacher.…
…a thoughtless menace to everyone else around them without a shred of empathy. That’s great if you’re an adult who hates kids but as a kid, I didn’t want to identify with the characters at all. I know Nancy Drew/the Hardy Boys were perhaps unrealistically intelligent for their age but I read them because I wanted to be like them. Why would I read about people who personify all the things I hate about myself?
…create new hits. Record labels and producers apparently have it down to a (data) science. Some may point out that mass-produced "pop literature" is not really new: for instance, the entire Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series was just that. However, since this is not a widespread practice so far, (almost) nobody has complained about it. But once this data starts getting used more and more, and feedback loops get more…
