That said, the Agile Web Development with Rails book is pretty much standard, and Rails Recipes is good for code examples. 我是按这个顺序刷了三本书：先读《Agile Web Development with Rails》（初学 rails 基础），接着是 Peter Cooper 写的《Beginning Ruby》（学习 ruby 语言），最后是《Rails Recipes》（用来做正经实用的功能）。看这几本书的同时，我也动手把一个已有的 web app 迁移改造成了 rails 版。
I used three books in this order Agile web development with Rails (for learning rails initially) Beginning Ruby by Peter Cooper (for learning ruby) Rails Recipes (for doing useful stuff) While reading these I also worked on converting an existing web app into rails.

Keep in mind Rails Recipes was written by the incomparable Chad Fowler and probably had five figures worth of editing over a much longer period of time.
