This is reminiscent of the book series A Time Odyssey, by Stephen Baxter and Arthur C. Clarke, where a UN helicopter crew and a couple of cosmonauts from 2037, a late 19th century British force, the Mongol horde under Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great's…
He along with Stephen Baxter kinda nailed smartphone idea in their A Time Odyssey series book - tho, their device was far more "smart" as it was equipped with sophisticated AI rather than just a voice assistant. Not mention it was given by the UN to any kid who become 12yo rather being…
Once again I'll mention "A Time Odyssey" series by Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter and to be exact, the second book in the series Sunstorm. In which Earth is preparing to mitigate - as much is possible, a massive solar eruption with megascale…
> at some point closer to the sun we could perhaps pull this angular "hack" to shade Earth using a smaller object? A. C. Clarke and S. Baxter A Time Odyssey series 2nd book, "Sunstorm" focuses on destructive coronal mass ejection as main plot. One of the mankind solutions is a megaproject of shield modelled on Fresnel lens that is constructed on the Moon…
You might want to check out the Time Odyssey series. It was written by Arthur C Clarke (along with Stephen Baxter) and deals with similar themes.
