The Shadow of the Torturer The Book of the New Sun

》（Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep）、John Crowley 的《大，小》（Little, Big）以及 Gene Wolfe 的《拷问者之影》（Shadow of the Torturer）。
The one book is probably actually three books that were read more or less at the same time: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick, Little, Big by John Crowley, and Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe. These books led to a change of reading habits in way that led eventually to working in publishing.
…admit I was a bit confused after the first section in which they interview Flec. I read that section again, and then everything made sense. It may have helped that I have read (numerous times) Wolfe's The Shadow of the Torturer, of which the initial chapters of "mathic" life in Anathem are a sort of pastiche. Stephenson gets plenty less approachable. I have tried multiple times to read at least two of the three books in The…
I’ve come to recommend Gene Wolfe’s series, starting with Shadow of the Torturer. Can’t explain this one, just read it. Wolfe was an engineer, he helped to create the machine for manufacturing pringles. Bonus: Rudy Rucker’s Ware Tetralogy. A hilarious and thought-provoking cyberpunk…
A few I really enjoyed in the last few months: - The Murderbot Diaries (Martha Wells) - Dune (Frank Herbert) - The Shadow of the Torturer (Gene Wolfe) - Old Man's War series (John Scalzi) - Bobiverse Series (Dennis E. Taylor)
“Book of the New Sun”, beginning with Shadow of the Torturer, is his major work but can be unapproachable at first. The narrator/protagonist is a terrific character, but a IMO difficult one to spend time with. The Fifth Head of Cerberus is also a great entry point.…
你可能会喜欢吉恩·沃尔夫的《拷打者之影》（The shadow of the torturer）。
You might like "The shadow of the torturer" by Gene Wolfe. Definitely had a few "whoa" moments in it for me.
